Book~~The Brick Mill Cemetery Preservation Project in Camp Lejeune

Non-fiction, 98 pg. Paperback

Brick Mill Cemetery is believed to be the largest all African American community cemetery within Onslow County, North Carolina.

What was thought to be one hundred and twenty-five graves has been officially confirmed be in excess of eight hundred. Numerous graves are without headstones due to vandalism, neglect or, never acquired.

I spent more than ten years gathering official records, oral histories from direct descendants and community Elders.

I feel the need to have these Ancestors be recognized. Many buried within the Brick Mill Cemetery were once slaves--the first to use the family surname.

There are over one hundred military veterans buried in the Brick Mill cemetery: WW I; WW II, Korean and Viet Nam wars. No less than ten former slaves have been confirmed who have been laid to rest with the Brick Mill Cemetery.

To name a few prominent surnames: Sanders; Saunders; Murrill; Murrell; White; Berry.

NOTE:

1) This cemetery is on PRIVATE land on the outskirts of Richlands, North Carolina. It is off limits to the public, however, direct descendants are allowed.

2) Many people use this text as a "How to" guide to research their family tree.
The book has easy-to-follow tips to locate genealogy information.

Free shipping (continental United States only).
